Giving back

Pyi Chit students visit Puzzlebox

Pyi Chit students visit Puzzlebox and say hello to their Kick-Start Art teachers.

We believe artistic skill and art appreciation should be shared with the community! Our staff artists—given vocational training through Youth Connect’s Transitions program and then art training by Puzzlebox mentor artists—are now learning to give back to others.

Three of our staff artists also teach children at migrant schools in the Mae Sot area, as part of Kick-Start Art. This program began in November 2012 and as of April 2013, three schools participate in the art lessons: Pyi Chit, Light School, and Sophia.

Starting in March 2013, Puzzlebox also began working with Youth Connect’s Stay in School program. This program targets children who are in danger of dropping out of school early. Students expressed interest in gaining a practical skill while still attending classes. Puzzlebox is teaching an 11-week fashion design course to students from Good Morning School and Knowledge zone, including basic fashion drawing and toy-making.
